The Museum of Geology allows visitors, tourists, families and academics the chance to explore the world’s geological history for themselves. Above ground, an entrance lobby welcomes visitors. The simple room contains display cases, pamphlets in several languages as well as a small gift shop also offering refreshments.
Stretching far below the earth’s crust, the underground galleries comprise the world’s finest collection of historical, contemporary, natural and man-made geology, which can be experienced as up-close encounters in their natural context. Vast grottos and dramatic caves are complemented by exquisite formations, whilst alluvial clouds arch across the cavernous vaulted passageways. As the visitor moves down through layers of geological strata, arrays of mineral deposits and glinting crystalline formations reflect the light.
The museum is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Entrance is free however please note that all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The Museum of Geology was commissioned for Museum Show at gallery and hair salon DKUK. Curated by Sam Jacob in Summer 2019 the exhibition also featured contributions from Assemble, Baukuh, DKCM, Fala Atelier, Fraser Muggeridge, Madelon Vriesendorp, Maio, OMMX and Sean Griffiths.
