Commissioned by the Greater London Authority for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Pup created five room-scale pavilions located in West Norwood Cemetery, Borough Market, Portobello Green, World’s End Place and Kentish Town.

Through a study of each location, we collated an extensive collection of local landmarks, characteristic streetscapes and contemporary and historical buildings. These were collaged into a streetscape unique to each Carousel and its surroundings, capturing a snapshot of London’s ever-changing landscape at its seminal moment of hosting the 2012 Olympics.

Each streetscape was presented as a continuous panorama, cut out in silhouette, which could be rotated using a hand-crank like an oversized toy. At night, a central light cast the streetscape in shadow back onto its surroundings.
